Events, scenes of life, stories, dances, songs, fairy tales, ‘verselets’ … – 1980s

This gallery includes examples of works belonging to several variously named series but all of which relate to the narrative dimension that characterizes the artistic production in general, whichever language or medium – music, literature, body, visual, etc. – is used.
In essence, in entitling these series I started from the assumption that the contents of art reflect significant aspects of the dynamics of human experience, finding a natural manifestation in the narrative dimension.
In terms of style and without any ‘artistic’ pretence, in the case of these works it could be said that the crazy line – the line that develops itself ‘freely’, ‘autonomously’, continuing beyond the limits of the paper or canvas, and that largely characterised my pictorial research – here is fittingly enclosed, circumscribed, detailed, interwoven into a sort of plot, within the completed narrative of something: state of mind, thought, idea, and, in fact, a story.

 

***I placed this picture also in the Gallery entitled The crazy line to document that my pictorial research, at a certain point in time, turned to the flow of the line on the surface of the paper and the canvas in disparate ways, according to the stages of the research itself that it is difficult to classify cleanly.
