VSAC 2018 (The Visual Science of Art Conference) was held in Trieste from 24 to 26 August, organized by Rossana Actis-Grosso and Daniele Zavagno, as a satellite conference of ECVP 2018 (European Conference on Visual Perception), coordinated by Tiziano Agostini, that took place from 26 to 30 August, also in Trieste.
The first day of VSAC 2018, Friday, August 24th, opened with a symposium dedicated to the memory of Alberto Argenton entitled Art and Expression, which is also the title of one of his volumes, published in Italy in 2008, that will be soon republished by Routledge: Art and Expression. Studies in the Psychology of Art.
Within this symposium, chaired by Ian Verstegen, the following invited speakers participated:
Benjamin Van Buren – Ownership of Expressive Properties
Ling Zhu – Visual Tension and the Expressiveness of Art
Riccardo Luccio – Psychology of Art vs Psychology of Expression?
On Saturday 25th August, during a symposium conducted by Rossana Actis-Grosso – Representation of Events and Dynamic Content in the Visual Arts (in memory of Manfredo Massironi) – a research project designed by Alberto Argenton and developed by Ian Verstegen, Tamara Prest and Laura Messina Argenton was presented: Pictorial continuous narratives: Perceptual-representational strategies.
